    Kitchen Island Venting
I have recently installed a kitchen Island and need to know the best way to vent it other than cutting into my walls or running a new vent through the roof. I see ads for "air admittance devices" and also "plumbing check vents" and am wondering about the reliability and safety of such devices. The Island will be the only fixture on this branch. Also, can someone describe how an "Island Loop Vent is configured". Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Hey Jack,
Mark's busy so let me show you two island drainage set ups.(see images) One with a separate vent and the last with a AAV. AAVs are the easiest to install and for the most part are trouble free. Just purchase a good one like a Studore Vent.(see image) Good luck and I hope I've answered your questions. Tom

    Island Vent
    Tom & Mark,

Thanks for the assistance, I will probably go with the AAV. Can you tell me if the middle image you sent is what they call an Island Loop Vent and is it sometimes used without tieing into a vent stack.

    Thanks,
    Jack

They are all Island Vents. The AAV just doesn't loop. You're asking about a wet vent. Interesting question. I've never seen one used on a island vent. Regards, Tom
