I was trying to hook up a ceiling fan. The switch on the wall has a Black and Red connector, without a White wire connector. I had all the wiring Black to Black with Red wire all connected
Together, he White wires tied together and the two ground wire connected, to the ground on the fan. I also have the Blue wire from the Fan fixture with the Black wire. Problem was when the power was turned on, we had no lights, the fan was rotating, with the wall switch in the on and the off position. The remote was not working either. Can you please help?

You said you have a Black - Red and white. Does the switch say On/Off on the handle? If it does not, you probably have a three way switch.

If that is true, is the white wire connected to the darkest screw while the Black and Red wires are connected to the Brass screws? If that is also true, then the white wire is the power feed to the switch. The Black and Red wires (Travelers) are the power feeds to the fan and light.

Connect Black to Black on the fan. Connect Red to Blue for the lights. Connect the fan's White or Black and White striped wire to the Power source's white in the ceiling, then connect the bare grounds together.

Please be very careful, if the switch is not wired as I expect it to be. Stop there and get back to me with a description of the switch's wiring.

The light that was there before the fan, how was everything connected? What two wires connected to the light?

Did some reseach and found out that I had a 14/3 and a 14/2 coming into the electrical box in the ceiling. So I connected the black to black, all white wiring to white wiring. Took the blue wire and the black wire from the fan, and connected them to the red wiring. Then when I got home I found a notice from donf. Which very important info. I did not put the black to the black, I put the black and blue wiring from the fan to the red wiring going to the ceiling box. Which goes to the switch. The switch being the red and black wiring. The fan and the lights both work on the wall switch. Should I go back and change to red wiring connection? I also had to wire the black and blue wiring on the remote to the red wiring. I also connected the white wiring on the remote to the white wiring for the common. If I need to change anything please advise. Does the 14/3 go to the switch? If so, is the switch supposed to control the fan and light separately?

Followed the steps that was given to me from ceilingfanrepair to connect the blue-white-black to the fan. Connect the white to common and the black to the red wire. Upon completing this the fan and the light were great with the remote. Thanks again

I have ceiling fan that has a remote the ceiling has 2 white 1 black and 1 red wire ,on the remote you have black and white on one end and the other end you black blue and white do hooked up like instruction and tap off red wire from ceiling? Help jld

What was in your ceiling before and how was it connected? Were the two whites connected together?
