    Beginer to Web Site Building
I need to build a website for my small business. I DO NOT WANT TO WRITE PROGRAMMING FOR A WEBSITE! I have no idea where to start and everything I find on the internet wants me to "buy" their program for building websites or their service. I have purchased a .com site from godaddy.com and have e-mails set up and working. However, I do not know where to start on building a website and setting it up. Is there somewhere online I can go to learn the basics?

There are tons of resources across the net for learning how to build a website. Here's a good place to look: Google Directory - Computers > Internet > Web Design and Development  > Authoring > FAQs, Help, and Tutorials

There are also free services to help you get your website up and going with little-to-no HTML knowledge. One such provider is Microsoft: Free Web site, Hosting and E-mail - Microsoft Office Live Small Business

    Good luck!

If you're a Windows user, I suggest looking at Web Easy Professional; if you're a Mac OS X user, I suggest looking at RapidWeaver. Both are template based (no programming unless you want to) and create very professional sites; they're also very affordable. Frankly, I believe you're going to be happier with the results if you lay out a few dollars/pounds/whatever for one of these programs than using one of the free services out there.

Take a look at some of the sites you visit and see how they're structured; make a list of the capabilities you want on your site (bio, photo gallery, blog, etc.). Also note the sites that don't work for you. You can design and lay out your site before you ever touch web design software.

Most of the hosting companies, including GoDaddy, have online templates that you can use to design your own website. However, with templates, you are limited with the design. Also, if this is a business website, be careful. You want to make sure it looks professional and accurately represents your products and services.

We are a website design company and would be happy to talk to you about designing a custom site,

What is it that you want your site to do for you?
