Please excuse my ignorance of proper plumbing terms. I am going to rehab a full hall bath. I replaced the toilet last summer. When I removed the toilet, I noticed that the waste pipe (white plastic) only came up to the bottom of the subfloor (I think a 1/4 or a 1/2 inch). The width for the subfloor was exposed. The plastic flange was set on top of the subfloor. To be safe, I got a wax ring with some type of balck rubber extender.
Question - when I redo the bathroom, do I need to remove the subfloor and bring the plastic waste pipe up through the sub floor or is this normal? Thanks
