    Running Trap vs. P Trap?
I am currently in the process of chaning a garden tub into a custom tiled shower. The drain location needed to be moved. I have the slab cut and I have excavated to show all the plumbing. (Was not as hard as I thought it would be)

My question is this: The current P trap location is 24 inches away from the new shower drain location if I just connect the new pipe to what is there. Is that OK, or should I go to the trouble of locating the P trap directly below the shower drain? Is placing the P trap directly under the drain better? If so, why?

    Thanks in advance!

Don't bother trying to get the trap directly under the shower, its not necessary. With a 2" drain line its not going to make any difference.
