My dog is kind of old she is a mixed Lab and Chow we have tried everything on her from herbal remedies to hot spot treatments. Nothing seems to help could it be a psychosis type thing where she just has the urge to or is it an actual skin condition.

We have her wearing a cone in hopes to deter her from biting her butt but sometimes she gets around it and we have to muzzle her as well...



Are there any suggestions to what other kind of skin conditions there are for dogs or treatments to help her out?

More than likely it isn't a skin condition at all, but could very well be anal discomfort. I have a schnauzer that behaves similarly and every few weeks we have her anal gland cleaned from the vet. It's relatively cheap ahd painless. It that doesn't work, then try treatment for hot spots.

What does your vet say? Is she a nervous dog? Poor thing - I'd definitely work closely with the vet on this one!
