My new Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan w/lights says to connect the blue and black wires to the black wire and the white to the white. However, my ceiling junction box just has two white wires. I tried connecting the blue and black wires to one white wire and the white wire to the other white wire. The lights work, but the fan won't. Would switching to the other white wire do the trick? Thanks!:)

One of the whites in the outlet box is hot, the other is neutral. The white from the fan needs to go the neutral. The black and blue should go the hot in the outlet box.

How did you only get two white wires in the box? Even if you only have 1 cable each cable has a black and white.

Is there white paint on the wires in the outlet box? Try scrpaing off any paint to find the black, remember it should be hot, with a wall switch on.

The blue from the fan unit feeds the light kit, and the black from the fan unit feeds the fan.

You should test each outlet box wire to find the hot, so that it can connect to the fans blue/black.

Ok, if you connected the white wire from the fan to one wire, and the black AND blue from the fan to the other wire, and the light works, the fan should work also (even though it might be wired backwards). Check to make sure the fan is set to the correct speed, the reverse switch firmly in the up or down position.
