I heard this stated by a host on the radio this morning, and wondered what everyone here
Thinks about it.

He said, given the right circumstances, with the right woman, over 60% of women in the world, are open to an erotic encounter with another female.

What do y'all say?

I must be in the 40% but polls are useless. They prove nothing.
Like if Playgirl questioned their subscribers they would come up with a different percentage than if they questioned a wide variety of average women.

There are certainly some women open to the romantic encounter. Not me, nor any of my friends. It sounds like the survey is skewed towards fantasy?

I'm not even sure it came from a survey, more likely the hosts opinion, that is why I wanted to see what everyone here though about it.

I thought it sounded high to me, but I'm a guy!

I had not given any thought to the fact that the radio station they listened to, could possibly have anything to do with being prone to having an erotic encounter with another woman?

I know there is some stations here, and you would have to be some sexual deviant to listen to some of them.

No, this was on Morning radio, the host was Dennis Prager.

I don't think he fits the sexual deviant bill, and I'm fairly sure that I don't either, I guess that would depend on who you asked though.

I always wonder who does these surveys, and in what demographic? I betcha if I ran down to the corner pub and posed that question, the stats might be higher or lower depending on how long they've been there! ;)

Starby had a good point and I'd like to add to it. If I went to the corner pub I think I'd get a different percentage every day, it depends on the time, day and the crowd. Unless they've done an independent study and asked many different women of many different ages and backgrounds, I don't think they can get an accurate percentage.

Just my thoughts on the subject. :)

I think this has something to do with my generation's wild outlandish behavior...
I'm a 21 yr. old college student and I hear of this type of behavior often but I know it's just a symptom of young silly girls wanting to look "hot" and turn guys on (be the center of attention), I seriously doubt they do this because they're really into each other.

It seems like it's becoming a trend to be a "straight" woman who happens to like to make out with other females... especially in public. Ridiculous

I'm in the 60%, and don't have a problem admitting it.

Of course, I also don't have a problem admitting that I'm bisexual anyway.

It's an interesting question about where they get their statistics, though---I know for a fact that 4 of my 5 closest female friends are ALSO in that 60% (and no, I haven't slept with them, and no, they're not my friends because we're all sexually attracted to each other) (can you tell I get those questions a lot?)

No 40% - Yes 60% for women... Why is the percentage difference so much higher in males? (I guess that is near No 85% - Yes 15% for males).
And yes : I am 100% in that 85% section ! LOL

Synnen, just wondering does it bother you that more and more young women are buying into the "Bisexual for a night" trend just to get attention, fit in etc.

Im bothered just by the fact that they feel they have to do and be what they are not to get attention from men... the attention is short lived and does nothing for their image (inside and out) as young ladies.

Actually, it DOES bother me.

I've always been attracted to both sexes... but have never had a long term relationship with a woman.

I'm happily married to my husband, and see fidelity as fidelity--but that doesn't stop me from noticing and be attracted to women (and other men!). I'm married, not dead.

But yes.. it bothers me that women do it for the attention from men.

I don't have a problem with honest experimentation--people who aren't sure SHOULD be sure, and if you don't try it, how can you be? But people who do it just to get attention or fit in make it harder for those of us who actually ARE bisexual to be taken seriously. What I mean by that is that I get, all the time, that since I'm married, I can't truly be attracted to women--I mean, I MARRIED a man, right--if I were bisexual, I would have stayed single and slept with both sexes forever!

But... whatever. I enjoyed my encounters with women as much as my encounters with men. As with every relationship, some women were better than some men, and vice versa. I don't feel I have to justify it to anyone anymore (thank god!). I'm honest with myself and my husband, and have been honest with past partners, and I think, really, that's all that matters.

Hmm, I too think that is a fantasy theory.

Hmmm, you know because of all these psychology classes I took in college I did think about the idea.

Personally, to me, it seems rather boring. It would be like looking in a mirror. It just never really seemed to interest me all that much. At one point in my life a friend gave me lesbian erotica (not porn, actual erotica stories etc. don't ask the story behind this one). At first I was a little turned on then wham I realized I was imaging men, instead of women.

So no, I must be in the 40%, but I honor all those who feel differently from me. Sexuality is such a tricky thing. Just because I feel one way doesn't mean the rest of the world does.

What is a sexual encounter? How many people were asked and where?

I would think the number of women who have thought about it seriously to some little extent, or more, and if you say a sexual encounter, if no one knew, included kissing a little and maybe a tiny bit more, could be sort of high... If you said that is for women ages 18 to 45... or so, and if sexual encounter included kissing for a few seconds or more, I'd say you'd still be under 60%, and I'm a guy who finds women, or two who are into it with each other, well, arousing, yes, but at least enjoyable, even a beautiful thing!! Lol I'd guess it to be more like 20%? Maybe, not as a habitual desire, just that if it happened, they might be more open to a little tiny experiment than say guys would. Me kissing a guy, forget it!! Lol Why? I don't know.

Mmmm I'm in the 60% :)

I think this is more a phony poll about what percentage of drunken females will do to prove they are hip.
