Hi
There's a girl at my school ill call her "Jess" who doesn't have any friends. No one really likes her because she's very clingy and if your nice to her she never leaves you alone. She had really good friends at her old school but that's all changed now. I don't know what to do because I don't want to tell her to leave people alone but at the same time I don't want to be hounded by her. What should I do?

Sounds like the girl really needs some friends. Why not give her a chance? You may find that she's a very good friend. If not you may miss out on someone who could be a good friend. It's never right to allow someone to be friendless when you can help it. The girls done nothing to deserve that treatment. Try being her friend.

I know your right. I really want to give her a chance and I have been really nice to her lately its just I don't want to hurt her feelings by telling her she's clingy. But your right I might be missing out on a great friendship. If it doesn't work and she clings to me again could you please help me again? Thanks Puppy247

Try being her friend, it's very difficult to come into a new place and make friends. The way she is acting now is her way of searching for acceptance, how would you feel if you were uprooted from a place where you had all your friends and then tossed into a place where you knew no one and had to start over? You two could become really good friends, rub off on each other and you may even help her make more friends. All anyone ever wants and needs is a chance. Life is all about reaching out a hand to someone who is looking for something to grab onto.

I agree with the above, you should be her friend. If you can just deal with the clingy part and introduce her to more people, then she will be able to spread her time equally between different people and not be so clingy. Also, it is OK to say no if she wants to do something and you feel you've been spending too much time together. Just tell her you don't feel like it right now and then later you can ask her to do something on your terms. There are many ways to deal with clingy people and slowly they will become less clingy. As a friend you can tell her she is clingy, and if she is willing, help her improve herself.
