I have a new question for the pro's. I got my new motor, cut the shaft to same length as old one. My factory replacement fan has a slightly steeper pitch to it an for that reason I had to install the blade assembly about 1/2'' further away from motor than the old one. Will the steeper pitch and the greater distance from the motor cause it to run incorrectly?
I did the best I could with what's available on this 13 year old heat pump. I haven't fired it up yet, waiting on the new contactor...

The only way you can tell is with a amprobe. You can take a reading with a amprobe and see if the current draw is with in specs for the motor. Most if not all service persons in the HVAC trade has one.

The greater distance could move the blade to high. There is a area/ space in the top of the unit that the blade belongs in.

Now it is possible that if the blade is moved up it will not draw as much current since it is not working under full air load. This just might be a happy medium to take care of the heavier pitch blade.

Well, if it doesn't burn up I will be happy. If it doesn't get as cold in the house, that is no problem, it freezes in there. I just don't want to smoke the new capacitor, contactor or motor... If I have a problem I guess all I can do is take it back out and move it closer to the motor...

I will get an amprobe when I can and check that. I have a new fan blade, motor, and capacitor. I will change the contactor as soon as it gets here. It doesn't seem to get overly hot, and still takes the same amount of time to cool. Hopefully I will be all set until I can afford a new system. I appreciate the advice greatly.
