What is the basic difference between propeller and impeller?
The way I was taught, "Propel" means "push", and "Impel" means "pull". Both work by creating a pressure difference from one side to the other. A centrifugal pump impeller, a helicopter rotor, and an aircraft or boat propeller all work by creating a pressure deference from one side to the other.
