The apt I recently moved out of was in very good to good condition (I paid $200.00 to have it professionally cleaned). The landlord is now trying to charge me with $600.00 in fees in excess of my $200.00 deposit for carpet replacement among other things. They are also trying to double charge me for water/sewer/trash. Is this legal in LV, NV? Do I have any recourse. They are planning to send it to collections soon. They were negligent in maintaining the property. Three days after I moved into the apt, my home was broken into and everything was stolen. The door was shattered as well as all the drywall. After 14 months, the door was still never repaired. The apt flooded because they patched the garbage disposal with silicone instead of fixing it, it took weeks for them to replace the disposal. Do I have any recourse? These are just a few of the multitude of complaints I have against this property. Since I have moved I have never had a problem. Thanks!

They can not charge you double, and if you did not damage the carpet, they can not charge you for that. So you can sue for your deposit back or wait till they sue you for the money and fight it in court. I will assume you took photos to prove your point

This is the key, can you prove your claims? They are going to bring in the carpet company who will testify that there was damage to the carpet. They will bring whatever proofs they need that you owe the utilities. Unless you can offer counter proof, they will win. No its not legal for them to do these things, but you have to prove they are doing something illegal.

I wouldn't bring up the door or flooding issues, because these were previous occurrences that you apparently did little about. Nor are they responsible for the break in. The flooding MIGHT have relevance if the damage top the carpeting was caused by the flooding.
