My Air Condition died. It is a Bryant 383KAV system. I had an electrician check if power was entering the system. Yes, with a Volt Meter it is. We noticed the Transformer was receiving power but it did not come out.
Question: Does it sound like the transformer is bad? Or am I looking at the wrong thing?

What transformer? In most AC 's there is no (need for a) transformer !
A basic AC has a compressor(motor) with one double fan or two single fans. Nothing else (other than a thermostat).

What about the contacter,, the capictor,, they are part of a a/c also,, but the numbers you gave, Bryant 383KAV system I believe are the numbers to a 80% furnace, and it does have a transformer,, it must have 110/120 volts going into transformer and 24-28 volts coming out

No it does not have to have that at all, as I referred to a BASIC AC system. Such transformers are mainly to feed optionable items as hooters, bells, and lights.

My system has 24vdc from the transformer to the t-stat. T-stat to the contactor coil. To check your system, why not start at the contactor and work backwards ? You can check the contactor coil very easily. And see if there's about 27vdc coming to it. Go to the T-stat and check for voltage. Since the transformer has no output, you probably need to replace it. Hope this helps.

PS. Shut down the AC at the breaker before removing the cover. It has 220vac and can be lethal! If you are unsure, then call out a service man. Please do not mess with it if you don't know electricity. Good luck

If the transformer is getting the proper amount of power, and no power is coming out of it, it's a bad transformer. Be sure it's not a loose connection, blown fuse or broken wire. Some transformers are internally fused and often a blown fuse is an indicator of other problems.
