    Paternal rights
Anyone know how to go about having paternal rights removed. My daughters father is a dead beat in every shape way or form and is finally willing to sign his rights over after 5 years- we have nothing established except paternity because he signed the birth certificate. I have called attorneys but none were too helpful as far as answering questions. This guy was nothing like I had thought and over the years I realized my daughter is lucky not to have to be involved with him or his family.

If you had scrolled down a little further you would have found the Family Law forum, where I moved your question to. In that forunm are hundreds of threads pertaining to this issue.

The bottom line here is that courts are very reluctant to grant a TPR. Generally they will only do so to clear the way for an adoption or because the fahter represents a danger to the child. Being a deadbeat doesn't represent a danger to the child.

Does the father vist the child at all? Is he a part of the child's life at all? Did you ever go to court for child support?
