Tax Filing for international student with F1 visa
    Hi,
I have been in US since 2005 sept and this year(2007) was the first time I tried to file taxes. I used the 1040 EZ form to files taxes and today I got the stimulus package. From my frens, I realized that I was supposed to file 1040 NR EZ and was not eligible for the stimulus package. I am really worried about it. Could somebody help me out how should I correct the mistake I made. I will appreciate your help.

    Thanks.

Yes, on F1 visa you are exempt for 5-years. You must file nonresident tax return and you income is not subject to FICA taxes.
    1. You should return the stimulus payment you received to the IRS.
    2. File amended tax return Form 1040X, along with properly done nonresident tax return and form 8843.
