Hi,

Central AC at my home stopped working. It is a Lennox HS29-030-1P model. It was working fine and suddenly I felt temp inside is way more than thermostat setting. I checked circuit breaker and thermostat settings. They are correct. I went outside to see if FAN at compressor unit is working. FAN was not moving. I hear some humming sound constantly coming out from outside unit. There was clicking sound also coming. I switched off power and then using screw driver tried to move the FAN. There was no obstruction to FAN.

Any help is appreciated. What could be faulty part? Any idea on how much will cost to fix this.

Check the fuses in them outside duisconnect.

As you mentioned there is a box (looks like fuse). I opened the box and there was one piece inserted like fuse. I pulled it out to see if there is any fused wire broken. I got confused as there as no evidence of fused wire.

Then I thought if there is humming and clicking sound then power must be going into condenser unit.

Please find attached pictures of outside box with supposed to be fuse for you further guidance to me.

Looks like this is a non fused disconnest. Turn the inside breaker off for the outside unit and remove the plastic cover on the outside disconnect. This will tell if there are fuses or not in that disconnect.

Unfortunately there are no screws on plastic box and it is embossed on box that there are no fuses inside it and do not try to open as Warning. I think now I will have to wait for a week for my appointment with tech.

I understand but the cover has to come off to wire it. What you might also try is to turn off the inside breaker and turn it back on. Sometimes they will trip but look normal.

Hi HVAC1000,

This box was sealed and it written on it that it does not have any fuses. As per city code now in Ontario central AC unit must have cut off box and it seems this box was cut off box.

Anyway yesterday service tech came and he told me 240 volt is coming to outside unit and it looks like capacitor is bad as it had some bulging on it. He was not having capacitor and will come back with it.

Probably the compressor run capacitor.
