$1 printed with corner folded over
My sister who lives in TN has a 1995 $1 that was printed with the corner folded. Any ideas as to the value... we know nothing on the subject. Also, if she decides to sell, what is the best way to go about it so as to not be taken advantage of? Thank you.

Yes, Flying Blue Eagle is always very helpful! It also makes a difference what it's worth if you would let F.B.E. know what condition it's in.

Just in looking up stuff on this type of error, I did find a site with a whole bunch of pictures of errors on notes with a possible range of values. I found it to be fascinating and didn't know there was such a site concerning the errors on paper currency! I have been used to there only being those that might have a section devoted to the errors on coins. But, I suppose there is more of a chance for errors on paper currency, since there are more steps involved in the process of producing them.

I apologize for not responding sooner, my sister's computer was down. Yes and thanks. I was reading some of the previous posts and saw the "guidelines for condition".

Firstly, this money came in a bundle from the bank to the place my sister worked. There is a fold where the misprint happened, a fold in the middle, and maybe one or to other slightly noticeable folds. The colors are good (vivid) and the bill is still crisp.

    Clough,

Thank you so much for the website. I'm am loving this learning experience. I think I'm hooked! There is so much we don't realize about the process of printing money. I told my husband about the note and commented that they must print on the bill several times because where this bill is folded, on the front, remained white, but was later stamped with the serial number and seal. I guess that means it was folded on the first pass thru but was unfolded sometime after that and stamped with the serial number and seal.

    This is truly fascinating!

Yes, it is fascinating! I think that there is an image on that site of one that is similar to the error that you have. I also am excited because of the possible monetary values of such bills!
    Quote:

    Approximate value Range: $300 -$500.
    Not bad! :)

You have both been extremely helpful and kind to boot! I hope to be able to post a couple of pictures tomorrow, if for no other reason, it's so cool to see and learn! My sis just had knee surgery and we've been busy with therapy.

Thanks again for all your help!

Wow! The images that you posted are really awesome, TIGER 007! It's amazing that anything like that was even allowed to be circulated! I tried to rate you for a reputation, but couldn't do it so soon after already rating you recently.

I appreciate so much the input from both of you. It has been a definite up beat during a challenging time for my sister. She is making good progress since her knee replacement, it's just a painful process. She is very interested in selling the dollar and any suggestions you may offer are greatly appreciated.

We will be traveling from Nashville to Kentucky on Friday. (My uncle who was ill passed away yesterday. He was a godly man who is assuredly reaping his heavenly reward.)

I can get back with y'all on Monday and maybe we can facilitate something??

The thing I still find most curious / fascinating is the front of the bill where the fold is. There is a white void (looks like a border) along both sides. It is like a gutter fold but it is in two directions! AMAZING! It makes me want to learn all about the printing process.

I may get access to a scanner by Monday so I might try to get some other images to see if it turns out even better. I will keep in touch as time allows as I'm the driver, cook, housekeeper, and chief bottle washer :)

    Until next time... God Bless!

Sorry it's been a while but we are finally back in town. We made a trip to Atlanta to see my dad's side of the family. My sister is ready to sell her dollar bill. Do we start with getting it appraised?? I appreciate your offer to assist us in this process.

Side note: Your kindness matches the beautiful TN scenery. It's been too long since my last visit. I really miss the mountains, hill, trees, and people!

    Thanks again.
