    Stabbing pain in hand
I experience on an irregular basis a stabbing pain in the upper palm area of my left hand just below the index finger. It comes without warning and takes my breathe away. Sometimes, it will happen three or four times in short period and then go away. Other times, it is one blast and done. It may not happens for several days. Then, some days, it happens several times. I have no tenderness in the area or in the elbow. What is going on? What kind of doctor should I visit?

I think you should visit with your family doctor, first, and then he will refer you to the proper medical adviser... that's how it works where I come from, anyhow.
You could also try removing the splinters from your majik "wizard" staff.---OUCH!!
Start with an 80 grit, sand paper and work your way up to higher grits, for ultimate smoothness
