How do you get child support agency to stop garnishing a social security check when the debt has been paid in full many times over

Does he get statements showing the balance owed to the child support agency? If not, he should request one that shows all sums owed and all sums paid, with a current balance. I would contact my U.S. congressman, as well as my local representative to the Michigan legislature and get them involved immediately; at least, you may be able to avoid paying a private attorney.

Well, if it's been paid many times over I don't know why your friend didn't complain earlier - for example, the second time he paid it.

Anyway - go back to Court with the child support order and proof of payments and the Court will schedule a hearing and order it stopped. You could attempt to get it stopped through the child support agency but they work very, very slowly and are usually very much overworked.

(Someone asked about garnishment of the SS check - child support is the exception to the rule.)
