Engine light with Oil life % in 2006 civic
    Hi There,

I just bought a 2006 Honda Civic and I just noticed a light with a tool wrenge that stayed ON and the trip milage display changed to "12 Oil life% 15". Does anyone know what this means? And what I can do to fix it? They changed the oil just before I picked it up a few days ago.

    Thanks for your help.

The maintenance minder needs to be reset when the oil is changed. The instructions below are how to reset the light. They are in your owner's manual under "maintenance minder" in the index.

If maintenance service is done by someone other than your dealer, reset the maintenance minder as follows:

    1) Turn the ignition switch to the ON
    (II) position.

    2 ) Press the SEL/RESET button
Repeatedly until the engine oil life
    Indicator is displayed.

    3) Press the SEL/RESET button for
About 10 seconds. The engine oil
    Life and the maintenance item
    Code(s) will blink.

    4) Press the SEL/RESET button for
    More than 5 seconds. The
    Maintenance item code(s) will
Disappear, and the engine oil life
    Will reset to ''100.''

This should solve the problem, if not, check with your local Honda Dealer.
