    Could I be depressed?
I don't feel like doing anything anymore. I sit around all day and basically do nothing. It's like I have no hobbies or interests. I've been invited to go places, I just don't feel like going to them. I get tons of sleep every night and sometimes I take naps during the day. I have no motivation or energy to do anything productive. Sometimes I put off using the bathroom just 'cause I'm too lazy (I do use it! I just wait to until I REALLY have to go). I get upset easily and annoyed by people a lot, even at teeny tiny little things. I eat too much. I can't remember the last time in a while that I've truly been excited/happy. I don't talk much when I'm with my friends anymore, and it makes it even worse 'cause I can't help but think about how BORING I am and how nobody wants to be around me. I'm such a Negative Nancy.

    WHAT'S MY PROBLEM? :(

I think you are depressed. I personally know cause I am depressed too. Not having energy, getting annoyed over little things, never being happy, thinking negative, sleeping and eating too much are all symptoms of depression. Please tell your doctor... I hid it up and it made my life hell. I have now started doing stupid things (self harm and acting carless). I don't want you to go though the hell I went through. You can get your hormones checked if you want. Mine turned out to be normal.

First let me say, Im not sure anyone here can say you are definitely depressed and be 100% sure... no offense Phason.

If you really want to get help and not just have a label for this type of behavior you should get tested by a professional... there's more to depression than what you've stated and from what I've read of another one of your posts (the one about being "easy")... You have some promiscuity issues, now that's a problem and coupled with these issues there may be some type of mental problem present but getting a professional evaluation is what you need!
Take care of yourself, your mental/emotional health is just as important as your physical health (sometimes we forget that)... get help!

I use to sleep a lot and lost interest in everything. Basically whatever you give into wins.
You get to the point you have to force yourself to reverse the cycle.
Even when you do not want to do something do it. They say it takes 21 days of doing something to make it habit. The more you sit around and don't have motivation or desire to do anything the harder it will get to change. You definitely won't wake up one day and automatically feel like you suddenly have the urge to move mountains, it is going to take baby steps and an effort on your part.
When you get to the point you are anything you do you feel weighed down like gravity and the blahs are holding you down.
Of course you are not going to feel energetic and enthusiastic because everything IS boring because it takes motivating yourself and seeing progress in your accomplishments to feel good with and about life.

I feel your pain! I have the same problem. I never do anything either. I stay in bed until late in the afternoon, don't get any exercise. I spend all my time online and just sit in my room all day. I never go out with friends because I really don't have any. If I did they would come see me once in awhile. But they don't do that or call me. I'm feeling depressed and lazy and I keep thinking what's going to happen to me because I feel like I have no goals or aspirations to do anything. I'm worried about my future.. I've never had a job, never done anything like that. I'm scared of getting a job or going to school because I'm not sure what I want to do as a career. :(

Are there some things in your life that you think might be causing you to think and feel the way that you do? It would be helpful to know that.

Please know that I really know how to feel "down in the dumps" concerning things, much like you seem to be feeling. But, they are usually caused by something else that is happening in my life.

    Thank you!

First of all, let me just say that I've been there, and I know exactly what you are talking about. Yes it is depression. Although, you may have some underlying problems. I would urge you to see a qualified professional to diagnose your particular problem, and also do some research on other alternatives to you combat your depression. It's not fun, and it can become debilitating! So the sooner you can find an answer, the better! Keep on asking for help like you did here.

Forgive me Clough (you know I love ya) but I don't think this is a case of being just "down in the dumps". Some of these disorders can get so bad that you are afraid to walk out of your door, if it continues without any treatment. A lot of times it's a brain imbalance that can be corrected with the right meds, or in some cases an herbal or alternative treatment.

Good luck to you, and I hope you do well and find a way to deal with your depression. Try to laugh as much as you can! It really does release endorphins and make you feel a bit better! :)

Free, You have pretty much withdrawn from life and given up on trying to make a good life for yourself.

You must consult a talented professional so you can get to know yourself and get help uncovering all that anger that is paralyzing you.

    Best wishes,

You sound depressed, what you need is a clear, consise goal. You need to reavaluate yoour life, start forcing yourself to smile, buy some crafts, go for walks.
Believe me I know how hard it can all be, and I know all the stuff I am saying seems hard, but believe me the little things make a huge difference. Cook a meal, open windows, build crafts go for a walk, BUY A FISH, you need to start doing things. However this may not work if you are very depressed, in witch case you neeed to see a doctor, but try these things first.

Starbuck8, are you a psychiatrist? I will assume you aren't, I ask this question because it is very important when helping someone with a mental problem to first of all diagnose it correctly and since you aren't a professional you shouldn't tell a complete stranger that they have a mental disorder no matter how familiar it sounds to you. The truth is the symptoms she listed can be attributed to a number of disorders (Mood, Anxiety, Personality or even a Somatoform Disorder)...

She needs professional help, the only thing anyone here can do for her is encourage her to seek that help.

Mental disorders are serious and therefore require (an educated) professional's diagnosis and treatment.

Looking at her other posts, I would venture to say that she may have a mental disorder but with my limited knowledge of them I can't say that she does or even specify and I wish others would consider this a delicate situation and do the same (refrain from giving her uneducated, unprofessional guesses)!

Please read my post again. I mentioned underlying problems, a possible brain disorder, and so on. I also urged her to see a qualified professional, so that she can be diagnosed. She has all of the symptoms of depression, whether that be the main problem, or a symptom of a bigger problem. It may be one of the above mentioned disorders, but depression goes hand in hand, most often. Another disorder may have come first, or vice versa. I also didn't say she had 'clinical depression.' If the wording was misconstrued, I appologize. Once again, I did urge her to get professional help.
