Sounds like could be a problem with windows installer

Google windows installer and download the redistributable package, should be v3.1

Download details: Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable

scroll down and click download for WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe

If you haven't upgraded to servicepack3, if you do that should fix it as well

one point: if you're already running sp3, sometimes stuff won't install on it even Microsoft software like office 2007

The link above is not SP3, it is windows installer version 3.1
I would install the windows installer version 3.1 and go from there first
The 3.1 installer was created 9/2/2005, long before SP3

Hopefully this should resolve install problem you are having

Sp3 is not in any part of anything, did you download the 3.1 installer above and install?

Try a registry cleaner/optimizer to see fi this helps

    Download CCleaner 2.08.588 - FileHippo.com
On the right hand side, click download latest version
