89 CRX DX Rough Idle and stall
My 89 CRX DX has a really rough engine idle when I apply the clutch, it drops down past 1000rpms then below 500 and either stalls or goes back to 1000rpms where is struggles to stay until I give it some gas. Most of the time it stalls out all together, and I have to let it sit for quite some time before it starts back up which is a real pain in the butt when your stuck at a green light in rush hour traffic. On the highway I occasionally get a lurch and a quick flash of the check engine light and rough RPMs. Only once has it actually stalled out completely while driving on the highway. When its really hot out this problem gets much much worse. And since I live one of the hottest states in the US this problem happens A lot. Also since its been over 100 degrees here since I got the car I can't tell you how it runs in cooler weather.

No one has really been able to give me an straight answer on this. But after reading posts on this website it looks like some people here actually know what they are talking about.

Ive talked with three mechanics who all told me that there is nothing wrong with my car despite the fact that it stalls out. They simply refuse to bother with me. Ive been told its my ERG valve, my PCV valve, my fuel filter, my Distributor, my ignitors, my ignition coil, ECU, Plugs, wires, you name it I get different answers from everyone who claims to know what they are talking about.

Ive been working my way through the list but my wallets getting thin and I would love some real info or a better idea of what is causing the problem.

Fuel Filter - Replaced No Change
    Wires - Replaced No Change
PCV Valve - Replaced No Change
    EGR - Replaced No Change
    Plugs - Replaced No Change
    Distributor
    Igniter's
    Ignition Coil
    Main Relay
    ECU

Does anyone out there have any clue?

Oh and how do I find out if I have a 1.5L or 1.6L engine?

Performing tests in Sections A and B should definitely help you zero in on the problem:
