Evicting me, and Im on disablity?
    Hello,
I am just into hard times, never late till now, and I am only 9days late with rent, and the landlord just sent me a letter that he is evicting me. He wants to sell the unit, so he asked me to leave by the 15th, which really I have a lease until July 31st, but I am in financial trouble this month, and he know it, I told him I didn't have the rent for the first time, but he doesn't care, he wants me to leave. We have found an apt, but they won't take us in till the 28th, and we don't have the money till them anyway.
I just am scared that between now and the 28th I might be on the lawn with my stuff, not only am I on disablity for mental health, but my foot is broken in a cast, making it harder for me to pack or move at all.
Does anywone know my rights as far as just staying until the 28th>>?

Relax. He can't throw you out without a court order. Before he can get a court order, there has to be a hearing.

What he sent you was not an eviction, but a notice to vacate. That's only the first step in the eviction process. That letter should specifiy a date by which you need to vacate. That can be anywhere from 3-7 days (generally).

I would respond to the landlord, that you have made arrangements to vacate, but you will not be able to do so until 6/28. If he says that's not good enough, tell him to take you to court. If he's able to get a court date before the 28th, I'm reasonably sure a judge will allow you to remain until then.

    Hello gor:

Scott knows what he's talking about. What he said, is absolutely what I'd do.
