    A dog's reaction to Frontline
I have a 2 yr old miniture dachshund who is having an allergic reaction to the Frontline flea control that we just used on him on Tuesday night. His skin is itchy, there are small hives on the back of his neck, he is just uncomfortable. We took him to the vet and they told us to give him 1/2 a children's benadryl to ease the itching. It has gotten better. I was wondering though if this reaction will happen for all of the flea control options. The vet says we can try something else if we want too. But I am hesitant- however, we go camping a lot so I feel he needs something to protect him.

    What can I use?

I switched my cats from Advantage to Frontline when they had the same kind of reaction. So I can say that a reaction to one doesn't necessarily mean that they will react to the others. I also recommend that you call the company's customer service number for the Frontline and tell them about the reaction, or ask your vet to. They need to know about reactions in the general public, so that they can accurately determine whether this is happening more than they expect from their previous studies.
