I was on a holiday visit to Singapore in 2006. On my return journey, I was found guilty of shoplifting at Changi Airport, two items worth S$200 together. I was taken to a Court and was allowed to leave the country after paying a fine of S$1600. Now it is almost two years. I sent a request to Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) in Singapore to allow me to enter Singapore as I have my relatives in Singapore now. Even after being sponsored by a local contact, the ICA still denied entry. I have a current Singapore Visa which is due to expire in a month, after which it would be even more difficult to enter Singapore.
Does anyone know if there is an exclusion period for visitors to enter Singapore if caught shoplifting. How long would it be before I can enter Singapore again. I have tried to put that question directly and through my local sponsor to ICA but in Vain.
Please advise!
