I was sentenced with 3 years probation for a DUI. It has been 18 months from the Date of sentencing. This is my first and only offense. How do I go about getting my probation terminated?

Your Parole Officer will be key in preparing a request of early terminiation. If you have followed all of your guidelines, taken required courses in rehab, paid all fess and avoided additional offenses you may be a candidate for early termination. Cutting the original 36 months in half may be requesting too much, but getting the ball rolling now can't hurt. Good Luck

Under the present climate in Nassau County, I doubt if you will be allowed to terminate your probation early. DA Rice is (rightfully) cracking down heavily on drunk drivers.

May I ask what about being on probation is a problem for you? You were given probation in lieu of a jail sentence. Probation for a DUI charge probably means that if you are caught driving drunk while on probation, you may have to serve out your sentence in jail. So if you don't get behind the wheel while intoxicated being on probation shouldn't be a big deal.

Well I believe we can do better on the 3yr probation, but the only troubling thing is the ignition interlock and the conditional licence. That's we we luk forward for a early termination...
