Carrier Air Handler - Blower Won't Shut Off
I have a Carrier heat pump package unit with a Carrier air handler, both from late 70's/early 80's (Model number illegible on sticker). When the weather was cold a couple of months ago, the blower would run constantly, making the house unbearably hot. Turning down, turning off, or disconnecting the thermostat did not help. The only way to stop the blower was to turn it off with the breaker. Now that the weather is warm, the unit is exhibiting similar behavior with the A/C. The blower blows cold air until the thermostat reaches the desired temperature, then the blower continues to run while blowing non-air conditioned air.
I had some service guys here and they replaced a relay on the unit. They then told me that they needed an additional relay to fix the problem, which they would have to order. Then they left, promising to return when they had the needed part. They took the relay they replaced with them when they left. Well, that was two months ago and they never came back. I'm pretty handy with a multimeter and I think I can fix this with some guidance. I don't understand how the relay did not fix the problem, unless they wired it incorrectly.
Thanks!
