    Roof antenna wire to coaxial
I've had it with DISH and DirectTV. I've decided to hookup my big screen HDTV ready TV to the old roof antenna. I understand the connection but I need a converter or some way to connect the heavy insolated 2-wire roof antenna to coaxial. No doubt Radio Shack has such. Anyone know the name of this converter? I don't see it on their website.

BTW, has anyone done this? It is my understanding that if you use your roof (or attic) antenna and your TV is HDTV ready you can get local channels in HDTV without paying satellite or cable rates.

Thank you for whatever information you would be willing to share with me.

What you are looking for is called a matching transformer, RS P/N 15-1143. Look around, the old VCR's used to come with them built in to the cable. VCR's also had a cable/broadcast switch. Without one, your HD TV will only work on cable.

This is not something I have done, but think should work.
