They could be, but they could also be a symptom of other possible causes for no period or irregular periods.

The concern now is that you have gone four months without a period when you were very regular.

This is far too long to wait to check on whether or not there is any change. Was anything suggested in regard to helping you get your cycles back on track?

Did they determine what sort of cysts they are? Some are benign, often causing no problems, but some need to be watched with the need for intervention a possibility.

Having cysts is quite common, but having them effect your cycle for several months is not common.
Hope it's not too personal, any issues with weight? Facial hair? Have they done any blood work to check out hormone levels?
It just seems odd that your doctor is going to wait several more months before even checking on the situation, especially since you have gone so long without a period, which is out of the norm for you, and that you are trying to get pregnant.
