I am 53 & live in Florida for about 15 years. My father who lives in New York, where I am from says he wants nothing to do with me! This has been going on & off for years. My only brother who is 3 years my senior keeps telling me leave it alone ,dad has written you off! Dad just had bypass surgery & even though I am his only daughter,he is still being hard on me! Do I have any rights on this cause it seems I am shut out! My brother does not know the whole story cause dad would never say he abused me as a child & I have carried this with me for years,mom was a drunk,but she did know & never helped me! She used to defend him! We came to peace before she died thank GOD ,CAUSE NO ONE CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW SHE PASSED! I have been stepped on & do not know my right! MAYBE SOMEONE CAN DIRECT ME IN WHICH WAY TO GO! I DO CALL MY BROTHER EVERY NIGHT TO SEE HOW DAD IS COMING ALONG, HE TELLS ME NOT TO WASTE TIME OR MONEY TO COME SEE DAD CAUSE IT WILL BE A WASTE OF TIME! SOMEONE SHED SOME LIGHT PLEASE!! :

You have no powers that can take away the hurt. You have no judge that can make it all better. Your all adults and as much as its unkind it is life. Right now your doing what you can and as far as seeing your dad if he requests you don't you must ( no choice involved ) honor it. Sometimes too when people get near death like that they can find themselves in a new light and it just takes awhile. Also a lot of people have trouble accepting help. For now its monitor and wait and pray is about all you can do.
