    US/UK marriage in EU
My British fiancé and I have been living in the Czech Republic for the last three years and want to get married in the UK. I am an American citizen, and we will remain living and working in the Czech republic.

My question is this: I would like to apply for dual citizenship, but do not intend to spend significant time in the UK at this time due to career obligations. Does remaining in the Czech Republic pose a problem to my obtaining UK citizenship, or does residing in the EU enable me to gain EU/UK status?

If dual citizenship is not possible without UK residency, is there any way I can apply forBritish health care and EU status?

In order to become UK permanent resident/citizen, you must be live in UK for a certain period. Further info can be obtained at the nearest consulate.

Thank you, that is the answer I keep coming up against. Unfortunately, we want to remain in the Czech Republic, which doesn't help me much. Would it be the British or American consulate I would want to ask at for further info? Also, I guess you could boil my question down to this: As someone married to an EU citizen, is moving to the UK my only option for obtaining EU status? I appreciate your help!
