Probably made in the 90's, it was a cartoon about this guy and girl, a godmotherish character, and these underground goblins. I remember the use of string in order to find your way home. At the begininng or end there was a real woman, dressed as the godmother character saying something about a card you could get to make sure you didn't get lost.

To add. The real woman was dressed in a pink princessy dress, she had red hair, and it was a calling card.
