I have put threads on a different post questioning christian, catholic and atheist beliefs and the how's and why's. I guess it's only fair to include this religion too! :0

So I guess first off I willsay I have read the FAQ's and several posts. And I am here to tell you this religion seems like a lot of work! :)

And I KNOW I couldn't deal with the man in my life being my boss and deciding to put another woman in my bed!

But it does seem to be a religion that has a much more firm set of rules with little room for questions and doubts of the religion. And I like that.

So I guess the only questions I have are:

How close is the Islam bible to the christian bible? I saw that several names are similar to those in the christian bible.

And how does islam explain the beginning and end? (How we got here and where we go when we die?)

About the man being the boss thing,it is more to do with role sharing.
For example the husband is responsible financially to look after his family.The woman can work but she is not obliged to share her earnings with the husband,she can keep her own money for herself.She doesn't change her name after marriage and gets to keep the money she receives as "mahr"(a set amount given by the groom to the bride on marriage) or any other money she inherits is hers alone with no obligation on her to spend it on anyone.
She has less financial obligations compared to a man as the woman is the force that builds up lives of the children,by helping them grow up to be the best they can.And by being free of financial responsibility is a huge help for her to focus on the family.

We believe that the first human were Adam and then Hawwa(peace be upon them both).And we believe they were believers in the One Almighty who sent all the Prophets and Messengers from Nuh(Noah),Ibrahim(Abraham),Moosa(Moses),Iesa(Jesus ) till Muhammad(peace be upon them all).Some are mentioned in the Quran.

We believe that Books were revealed to them and we believe that Muhammad (pbuh)is the last and final Messenger and Prophet,that the Quran is the final revelation, which includes many lessons similar to the Bibles and the Torah.

Regarding the beginning,we believe that the Almighty created everything and that to Him will be our final return.

We believe that upon death each person is in an intermediate stage (barzakh) and that we will remain there until the final hour comes.That is the time when all things on this earth will perish and everyone will be resurrected.

What we do in this world will be held accountable on the Day of judgement and each will receive his due in good or bad.In the end some will be in Heaven while the others in Hell.

And yes Champ,It is a lot of work in that each and everything we do is recorded and we are answerable to all that we do on this earth.To try to do the best we can until our death arrives we try to live as the best a muslim can be.
A muslim is advised to always be ready for death because it is an unknown thing.

I believe yes some will be in Hell forever.
There are some who will enter Hell and be cleansed of their sins and wrongdoings and still enter Heaven.

For example there are those of us believers who sin and/or transgress Islamic laws.
Believers in Islamic monotheism will enter Heaven by the mercy of Allah,but we cannot guarantee how long we will be in Hell.And because we hurt even when a thorn pricks in this world,we hope not to enter the fire at all and work towards staying as far away from it as possible.

We believe that after the judgement the believers will pass a bridge across Hell in order to enter Heaven.Those of the most pious believers will cross it in the blink of an eye,but those who sin and trangress etc will be slower and some will be scorched/burn by the fire,while the hypocrites will fall into Hell as they pretended to be believers in this world.

It is said the slowest person will crawl across the bridge but he will get to enter Heaven.

As far as I believe we cannot say who will enter Heaven or Hell,but we believe that believers in Islamic monotheism will enter Heaven by the mercy of Allah at some point of time (time as defined not in worldly terms).

Non-believers who have never received the message of Islamic monotheism will be tested as Allah wills on the Day of Judgement and then their fate will be known.

Even the most pious cannot guarantee Heaven because we do not know the future and we cannot say in what state we may die in,belief or disbelief and it is up to to each of us to try to stay on the right path and meet death as believers.

Okay, so islamic faith kind follows a similar line as christian. Although obviously christian faith has some serious forks and potholes in it's road that branch off to dirt roads that have unmarked dead ends. Now I I don't reallly know all of the things associated with this particular religion, but I do like that it seems to be a lot more firm about the do's and don't's.

I am glad you cleared up the boss thing. Although I still wouldn't like sharing my husband with another woman my reltionship now is kind of like that with money. I take care of the kids and I have my own money but I know that spending it foolishly is not in the best interest of my family. But he doesn't tell me what to do with it. He feels basically the same way I do about religion. Although his views are a little more neanderthalish! :)

But all the same I am glad that I first misconceptions of this religion are cleared up. Women do get just a s much respect as any other way of life they probably in fact get more with the covering the body up thing. Since that way your body isn't used as a show piece for disrespectful men.

I do have an odd question though.. is pornography allowed in this religion?

Champ, Muslims believe Islam to be the monotheism preached by all messengers and Prophets since beginning of mankind.
Muslims believe that Jesus (alaihi salaam) was a muslim in that he submitted to the One Almighty and was sent into this world to spread the word of the One Almighty.
We do not believe Jesus(alaihi salaam) was the son of God or divine in anyway.And we do not believe in the trinity,just that there is One Almighty with no partners or sons or daughters or wives.

And I can see why Islam doesn't allow porn, but... bare with me...

If you can't look at women, look at porn and you can't masturbate and you don't practice any kind of like war stuff... how do you relieve all that hormone stress!!

Um it's obvious that men's hormones raise when they get to do fighting things, shooting, things, breaking things etc... And it relaxes them to do those things. So is praying the way islams de-stress?

Praying does de-stress as we do them five times a day.(dawn,noon,afternoon,sunset,early night).
And then there is a fasting of one month every year, this is not including the non-obligatory fasts on different days of the week/month/year.

Okay so this religion teaches discipline. I REALLY like that. It's like a nice military with a promise of a harmonious death instead of a certain and horrible death! LOL!

Interesting. I realize that in America and possibly all over the world, society has made "life" a very difficult place to practice religion or to even have faith anymore. And America's government and I have certain things in common but mostly I view our gov as greedy, selfish, cold-hearted, blank- blank's that only care about my vote and how much money I can make them. And lately I have started to see that same thing in the churches I vistited. And that made me very sad. So I decided to believe what I want to believe in my own home and I will tell you what my life is soooooo much better. Let me give you a quick outline...

5 years ago: lived in crappy 1 bedroom apartment barely scraping by with child number one. No help from bio father and no help from family. In truth mother and father where sucking me dry.

3 years ago: Had realization that I Don't have to kiss mom and dad's and everyone else's butts to be happy. Met husband and found part two of what my life had been missing... LOVE and RESPECT! I moved in with him, cut all ties to the leeches I had once known.

Present day: Have full time job, have food in fridge everyday, have lights and a/c and heat, have all the things I could ever NEED and a lot of things I could only want. I have total bliss in my relationship and I have two more babies, total of 3 now. Husband takes care of all 3 like they were all his own. He spoils me rotten but puts a foot up my butt when I need it. We sit down as a family at most dinners and pray before we eat. I say prayer with 2 oldest every night before bed and I answer all questions from my 8 year old with as much honesty as I can. I have given up the fight against my mother and have forgiven my deceased father and I am here to tell you that I have NEVER been more happy in my entire life!! And I all did was cut out socializing, drinking, and the bad. I stay home all day with my kids and only leave when I have to be or go somewhere, and I work 5-6 nights a week. My husband comes home everyday right after work and stays home. If we go anywhere we go together or just run errands. We don't go out with friends because we don't have or want any. We are 100% devoted to "OUR" family. And I love it.

Thank you for being so open about your beliefs and religion. I am just curious if there is any out there that I may want to convert to. Im not in a big hurry because I feel confident in my relationship with my God and I feel a better sense of peace now more than ever.

Regarding difficulty of practising religion in today's society I think we are more distracted by worldly accumulations and the glitters of the world we see on TV,magazines and any other media. The need to be better in wealth or status seems to something people want to compete in.

But the harder it is to practice and the more we try to stay on the path I believe the Almighty will reward us in this world or the next for our perseverance and patience in times of adversity.

At this point of time it is mostly about defending my belief sometimes and saddens me to see all the misconception people put out all over the media about Islam.

For me even when I see Islam being misunderstood, I am heartened to see that there new muslims all over the world almost everyday and they see the beauty of Islam and believe in Islam to be the right way enough to give up all that they hold dear to convert to Islam.

Thank you so much for taking the time. And I agree with you. But I will say this, society and the government has made it nearly impossible NOT to focus on money. Anymore you can't live without money and you can't get money without working and you can't get a job without education and you can't get education without money. So it is VERY hard to even just "get by" in this day and age. And I can't stand that. It is to the point where you have to decide if you can "afford" to have another child instead of having another child. It's ridiculus. But people like you and me will perservere in the end and hopefully get to enjoy eternity even though we didn't get to enjoy the life.
