Hi my bulldog from 12 weeks old has had a fit and trembles and also vomits it acures after a good nights sleep when he wakes in the morning and takes most of the day to come around properly I have spent hundreds in the vets and there all just giving antibiotics and telling me it's the way the breed is I make sure he is rested and not to hot I'm at a loose end has anyone any idea what it could be albert my bully is now 51/2 months old

Bulldogs are prone to lots of problems, mostly related to their respiratory system. This sounds very odd. I would ask my vet for a referral to a veterinary teaching hospital.
In the long run you will spend less money by going somewhere with state of the art equipment for diagnosis and lots of specialists on staff. If they find out that it is something metabolic, for example, they can get someone from internal medicine to come take a look; if it appears to be a form of seizure, there is a neurologist right down the hall.

Hi thanks I have found out that some bulldogs have a reaction to certain things in there dry mix feed I feed albert on tripe and royal canon and have read that some dogs have a reaction to soya oil and on looking at the ingredients found royal cannon has soya oil in it so for now I have put him on the tripe only and have seen a big difference in him he has now got more energy doesn't smell drinks less water and he isn't shedding his hair as much witch was really bad oh ye and only going the toilet 1 to 2 times a day instead of 5 so I'm going to see how he goes and fingers crossed it's the feed if not I will be looking for a specialest

I'm not sure what tripe is. Are you in the US? Here I think it refers to intestines of cattle. If it is something like that, start looking around for a balanced dog food that doesn't contain soy or a lot of dye.
It was a great idea to try a different food, and one I hadn't thought of. Long term he'll need to be on something that provides all the vitamins and minerals and other nutrients his body needs.

Hi I'm in england tripe is bought from all good pet stores and is one of the best foods you can give your dog as it's all natural ingrediants and is lining of the cows stomach with all other matter on it and is minced it's a bit smelly it smells like a farm but dogs love it and is like a delicasey to them it comes in frozen block form witch is defrosted then fed to your dog I also give him fillet of salmon the tripe is the same tripe what you get from the butches for humans except the one they sell for us is cleaned of all matter and cooked for hours and then bleached

You're right--stomach, not intestines--my agriculture classes are slowly coming back to me..

Albert still hasn't had any more fits or hasn't been tremmbelan he's still doing fine every one was looking for something much more serious and it looks like it was an allery to the dry food so simple the vet was thinking of putting him on medication whitch would have been for life

Properly prepared tripe is truly delicious. Here in florence, italy you can get it at any butcher shop. They even have tripe sandwich stands instead of hot dog stands like there are in New York (where I grew up). Before I came here just the idea of these things made me gag. Now I'm a total convert. My cat went crazy for the stuff. There is a lot of wonderful offal here, and it's often inexpensive. These are also some of the most nutritious (animal) foods around. I'm so glad to hear you've solved the problem! Fingers crossed! :)

Thanks I think albert would love to live there he's still doing fine but the thought of eating tripe myself makes me cringe my dad used to love it

This is going to sound weird, but try adding green beans to his diet. It sounds like your dog may be having seizures, something I'm familiar with as one of my dogs has them. We tried all sorts of meds they didn't help. One vet recommended green beans, it's been years since he had a seizure, and he used to have up to 12 a day. Can't hurt, even if it isn't seizures.

Hi yes they are seizures I had a chihuahua who had them when she was very old because she had a bad heart so I no all the symptoms and yes thanks for the tip I will definitley be trying the green beans
