Our well water system isn't working
We live in the country and do not have city water; we have well water. We suddenly have no water at all coming out of our faucets, toilets aren't flushing, etc. We have a light that comes on when the pump is running, and it has been on since the water has stopped. Any ideas on how to find out what is wrong? We turned off the breaker that controls the well pump. What should we do?

    Dear erynn8302

Most probable causes for this problem :

1- The pump is faulty. If you switch the power to the pump on, do you hear the pump running?
If you have an AC current meter : what current do you measure when the pump is running? And what is the waterhead? (The total height of the water column inside the hole).
2- The water level has lowered itself below the pump inlet. The only thing to do in that case is drill the hole deeper, or elsewhere.

    Success !

Is your pump above ground? If so, how many pipes go from the pump into the well, one or two? If the pump is above ground, then it is quite possible you have a leak in the suction side of the system. If the pump is submersible (in the well), then you might have a leak below ground in the well pipe.

BTW, turn off the pump. You don't want it running dry 24/7.
