Do you need to finish high school to be a dance teacher??
Yes.
How could you expect someone to take you seriously as a teacher if you can't even finish school?
Not only do you need to finish high school, you'll need to go on to college.
That would depend on where you are going to be doing the teaching. If you want to simply give lessons privately say, out of your home, then you wouldn't necessarily need to finish high school in order to start.
However, if you mean that you want to be hired by a studio of some kind, then chances are that they are going to want someone who is experienced and also who hopefully has the proper credentials behind them so that the studio can then advertise that fact in order to get more business.
I taught ballet, jazz and tap to 1st through 12th graders while I was in high school. So no, you don't.
If you have lengthy experience in a perticular style, or several styles, than all you have to do is find someone that will allow you to teach. I taught at several middle schools in their gyms. I paid them rent to use the gyms and I charged $8 a kid per hour. At the time that I was teaching I had done ballet and jazz for 13 years and tap for 5 years.
But if you are going to teach you have make sure you have contracts drawn up for the parents to sign. You have to make the parents aware of what the costs are and whether or not they are responsible for the costumes for the recitals. They have to know if you plan on having insurance to cover the kids while they are under your care or if they are responsible and you have to have them sign a waiver relieving you from all responsibility if you are not going to have insurance.
If you are going to open your own business in a building that you alone will own or rent you will HAVE to have insurance.
I suggest you start small and work your way up once you have several clients.
Also, lots of people want a variety. Like Jazz, tap, and ballet. Not just one style. But if you only know one, you could prob make plenty just teaching one. ( I would make a $120 a week only working 1 hour 3 nights a week.)
Hope that helps!
I guess the issue is what type of dance teacher you want to be, are you going to work for a dance studio teaching for them ?
Are you going to rent space and hold your own dance studio.
Do you want to teach in a school or college
NO you do not need to finish high school you don't have to finish anything really. A dance teacher (who wants to teach in a studio or own there own) doesn't have to be even qaulified to teach dance anyone can but to sit kids for things like exams then still no to high school but you would have had to sit your teachers exams in the areas which you want to sit you kids for which is a worse process than high school may I add :)
If you want to teach in schools or colleges on the other hand you have to go down the route of college`s etc... hope that helped I know this because I am just starting up my own classes so I have had to find all this out
