    Applying for my portuguese passport
    Hello,
I have been trying to find out some information on how to apply for my portuguese passport. My father is was born in Maderia but immigrated to South Africa where I was born. I am 21 years old and was under the impression that I need my parents and my birth certificates in order to apply for my passport but have now just been informed that I am of age to apply for my passport without the birth certifiocated provided my father is registered in portugal? Could you please maybe shed some light on how I would go about appling for my passport and approximately the time duration it would take to acquire my passport and if possible any contact number you can provide me that I would need, thank you...

To my understanding, even your father is a Portuguese citizen, but if he failed to report birth of Portuguese citizen overseas when you were born, you can claim this right until you reach the age of 18. Since you are now 21, I'm afraid it's too late.

    Contact the nearest Portuguese Embassy...
