There was a catoon movie I used to watch when I was a kid I remember it had an orange ferret looking animal in it.. and the title of the movie was the ferrets name, I know it starts with an R.. there was one scene in the movie when there was a snake in the grass that wanted to eat the ferret, but the ferret ended up eating the snake.. rickaticki or something sounds familiar

That has to be Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (written by Rudyard Kipling). And the title character is a mongoose, going up against Nag, the cobra.
