The mouse has stopped working and has a message stating a problem with mouse drivers, repair patches are available on the internet, but I do not know how to get to the internet without a mouse to down load

If you are using Windows you should not need drivers for the mouse unless it has special functions. Buy a wired USB optical mouse for $10 and plug it in, Windows should detect it right away.
