My gear shift is locked and the key is in the ignition, now battery is dead. I need help

How do I find the answer?

Near the shifter there proabably is a small cover plate, maybe 3/4" square. Remove it. You should then be able to activate the release on the shift mechanism with a screwdriver.

Get the battery charged and see what happens.
