Can anybody help me with this... So I live in this apartment and I have been living here for 6mths now and justed two days ago someone got murder over here so my husband wonts to move now but we have a one year lease. Do anyone think that it is possible that we could get out of our lease or would we have to go to housing court. I live in the state of Virginia

The lease you signed will outline any early termination clause if one exists.

I can't imagine that murder on the property will be one of them, but hey, you never know.

Perhaps if you could find someone to rent the same apartment, the landlord might consider releasing you, though I doubt it.

No most likely you are stuck with your lease, If there is a list of safety items, armed security, closed gate and more and the company is not providing the things they have promised, but if they did not promice in the lease to provide any specific safety there is little help there.
Was there illegal activity on the property that was reported to the management and nothing done?

But no, it is not a reason to break a lease normally.
