F1 Student Income tax on the US Stock Market ?
    HI,

I would like to ask whether a F1/F2 Student that didn't receive any Social Security ID have to pay tax or not ?

I'm holding Indonesian passport (foreigner). And my wife try to continue her study in US, therefore she want to apply student visa for that (F1 Visa), and that makes me have student dependent visa (F2 visa) and currently I have trading on US Stock and Options market (buy and sell stock/options)

My question is : must I pay tax if I make some profit on my trading on US Stock and Options market ?

I don't know whether I'm on Resident Aliens category or on Non-resident aliens category. But I know I will not receiving any social security id when I'm on F1 visa (or F2 visa)

Help me on this, as I count on this very much

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me on this

    Thanks

Resident or non-resident, if you have income from the U.S. sources, you will pay tax.
F1 students can get Social Security number.
