    Vaginal infection?
Hey. I have recently been receiving problems with my women parts dare I say. Over the past 3 days or so my vagina has been extremely itchy just inside at times and then other times itchy is lesser or no itch at all. It is now beginning to be become sore with all the itching. It is also slightly red. I have never been sexually active, ever, at all therefore I do not know what it is. Its beginning to annoy me now as its becoming itchy a lot however the itching is not getting better, if even a little worse. I would really appreciate your help because I am too embarrassed to tell my mother and begin with a doctors appointment. Have you any ideas of what this could be and is there any over the counter cures? Thanks for your help.

Herpes have been known to go inside a woman's vagina causing all sorts of itching, etc. Until a doctor checks this out and gives you a diagnosis it's hard for us to try and diagnose such a problem over the internet. Suggest you see the doctor as soon as possible so you can get some kind of relief for this. I don' know what over the counter stuff to recommend.

It sounds like a yeast infection. You should contact your physician to rule out anything else. Have you recently been on antibiotics, been swimming a lot and not taking off a wet bathing suit or changed your soap? A yeast infection is the change in the ph in your vagina, when this happens your natural flora "yeast" becomes disturbed and begins to over grow. A yeast infection can cause a horrible amount of itching, swelling, burning and also a vaginal discharge that looks like cottage cheese. Gross, but true. Best bet, don't self diagnose, go to the doctors. He will do an internal exam and do a painless culture using a long " q-tip" right in your vaginal. The lab will have results within a day. I work for an ob/gyn. Real common problem.:)
