Hi!

I bought a house one year ago. It has a submersible deep well pump. Pressure tank 20 gallon, on 40/20 psi. Oil furnace, with coil heating for hot water. The water was very hard. I installed softner 1 year ago. The pressure in the cold line is OK, but is very low on the hot line. Any suggession how to diagnose and fix. Thanks.

You must have more then just a coil in your furnace. Would you care to bring us up to speed on your hot water set up? Do you flush the hot water system on a regular maintenance schedule to remove the minerals that build up in it? Regards, Tom

Thank you very much for your fast reply. Since I bought the house one year ago, I never flushed the coil. Today I got the oil company to take a look. They told me the coil and the mixing valve need to be replaced. They suggested to have indirect water heater installed instead, what do you think?

You still haven't told me what you have. I can't believe you run your furnace all year long just to make sure you have hot water. I'll be happy to answer once I have all the details. Tom

Yes, the hot water is generated through the tankless coil in the furnace, it is Slant/Fin LD-40 oil burner. Thanks.

Since all you have is a furnace coil I think it's a excellent idea to replace it with a water heater. I don't know what a "indirect water heater" is but making a water heater your primary source and letting the furnace coil augment it durning the heating months seems like a very good idea to me. What kind of piping do you have? Copper? CPVC? Galvanized? Regards, tom
