Can a landlord say bad things about a tenant to a prospective new landlord? My current manager at my apartment took us to court to try an evict us. We won the case and now our lease is up. We are moving but have had a hard time because she has told lies about our tenancy. Such as being late on rent much more than we have, that she is going to call the sheriff if we don't leave the date we are suppose to move. She has painted a bad picture of us but it is all untrue. If we really were bad we would not have won the eviction case. I want to sue her for retaliation and a couple of other things. I need to know if she can legally say whatever she wants about us to new prospective managers.
