You should consult your gas company on this installation. Usually they don't want gas lines running through ceilings.

Check with your local code enforcement office but I know of no restriction that prevents a gas line being in a ceiling.

    Whittly:

If you are running black steel pipe and black malleable fittings and you test the new installation according to the codes in your area I am sure there is no restriction to running gas in a ceiling between joists! Make sure no unions are installed in the ceiling is all... ;) .

If you are working with copper pipe and flare fittings, etc.. then may have issue here and definitely will need to talk to a local inspector regarding this!

Like TWINKIE and HKSTROUD suggested... never a bad idea to check with local codes enforcement in your area (or next town over if not pulling permits... :( ).

BE CAREFUL....and remember to test your work! And don't forget to install the ANTI-TIP DEVICE on the stove once installation is completed. This device saves lives!!

Any more questions... let me know... MARK
