    Foreclosure due to HOA fees
I live in the state of Florida. I have not paid my Homeowner Association Fees in about 9 months. They have recently sent me a letter stating that they are going to foreclose on the house unless I come up with the total amount owed to them. Can they do this? I thought they could only put a lien on the house?

I did a little searching, and it appears that they can foreclose.

Here is a link to an article that describes this situation in Florida.

Entire Neighborhood Faces Foreclosure Over Association Fees

I couldn't find a limit on the amount past due as related to the timing of foreclosure, but in California, anything over $1800 past due can result in foreclosure.

    Good Luck to you!

Call your local, state legislator and ask what's going on.
