    Purse snatching
My son is 38yrs old he's been in and out county jails his whole life, for petty things like shoplifting bad checks telephone harassment, dui, and assault, this last crime he committed was two purse snatchings and one att.purse snatching that's how they busted him,he was on probation at the time of the crimes he's been in jail for three months.no bail and don't want any thing to do with him, what type of punishment will he get, because the county jails he's been in had no affect on him,do you think if he is sent to state prison it will. Broken hearted mom.

It depends on the Judge he may tell him you know what you won't learn in county jail, it's time to send you to a state prison. I personaly think he needs to be send to a state prison, he needs to learn the hard way.

Depends on the state and the court and the judge. Many prisons are over crowed and often non dangerous criminals are given probatoins and jail time. It is just a coin flip now, and you will just have to wait, there is no way to tell.

I'm sure the victims of some of the "minor" crimes you mentioned, such as assault, did not think it was minor. If the sentence is longer than a certain amount, in my state it is 180 days, the person will go to state prision. Depending on the circumstances, generally the longer the record, the longer the sentence. And judges really don't like to see people on probation getting convicted of new crimes.
