Debts over 2 years old never invoiced
A contractor who works for me recently provided an invoice for services that were never invoiced.
Some of the services go back 10 years.

Is there a statute of limitations on this type of debt? I want to be fair, however I don't have records going back that far to support his claims. Neither does he.

Does a contractor have an obligation to provide an invoice within an reasonable time?
What would be reasonable. He totally admits that he has never invoiced my company for these services.

If he can not prove the work, then he has no legal way to collect though the courts, He can bill for anything he wants, but only collect on those debts proved valid.

    Justice Matters
In Ontario the limitation period for a cause of action that arose after January 2004 is two years. For a cause of action that arose before January 2004 the limitation period is six years.

A signed written acknowledgement of a debt can restart a limitation period.
